NICE Community Schools
Ishpeming, MINestled in the rolling hills of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the NICE Community School District is comprised of the Aspen Ridge School (pre-K – 8th grade) Westwood High School (9th – 12th grade) and the Patriot Online Academy.
With a mission statement aimed at promoting learning in a positive, dynamic environment, the NICE community school district worked with the IDI team to create 21st century spaces that inspire learning and collaboration. Updates were made to the performing arts and athletic facilities and additional classrooms were added at Aspen Ridge. Some aging building systems continue to be updated with new infrastructure as projects occur.
The updates made to Aspen Ridge included a collaborative and interactive media center featuring plenty of open space for reading, writing and learning.
The athletes of Westwood High now enjoy plenty of practice space with an updated gymnasium and a new tennis facility. A modernized auditorium also gives students and faculty a large and comfortable venue for assemblies, plays and performances.
An interactive media center was also added to Westwood High, offering students ample room to study, learn and collaborate.
Additional improvements included science lab renovations at Westwood High, the addition of two middle school classrooms at Aspen Ridge and completely renovated restrooms at both facilities addressing barrier free shortfalls.
